The benefits of protecting forest land in water utility source waters include improved water quality, reduced risk of contamination, and possibly reduced treatment costs. Therefore, water utilities may be valuable partners in natural resources management programs directed at maintaining/improving water quality in source water streams, lakes or reservoirs.
