The City of Santa Fe has invested in green infrastructure for source water protection and keeping the Santa Fe River a ‘Living River.’ A local and national collaboration of the City of Santa Fe, U.S. Forest Service, Santa Fe Watershed Association, and The Nature Conservancy created the Santa Fe Municipal Watershed Plan to provide a watershed investment program to protect the city’s municipal water supply. In addition, the City of Santa Fe passed the ‘Living River’ Initiative to allow streamflow to bypass the municipal reservoirs upstream in order to support the Santa Fe River riparian corridor downstream.
